Have you ever gone to New York City? I have, it's so nice. I've never been there before so it was kind of creepy, and my dad had a customs test there at a cool place. Soon after we dropped Dad off we went to ride a metro. When we got off the metro we walked to the Empire State Building ,and a man asked us if we wanted to know if we wanted to come inside. My mom said, "No", but the man insisted that it would be $95, and Mom said "Fine". So Mom paid for us to go in, and when we we were in the lobby everything was made of Marble.
When we got upstairs we had to go through security, it wasn't fun at all. After we got out of security we went on a sky ride which showed us the whole"city".
The next place we went to was the observatory were we saw the Yankee Stadium, Ground Zero, and the new Trade Centers,it was so cool.
After we got downstairs we were looking for toy stores, then all of a sudden we walked past the Rockefeller Center so we walked around there, and then we walked by a Lego store so we walked in the store had so many Lego's I wanted to buy everything there.
Soon after we left the Lego store we went to F.A.O. Schwartz. They had toys, trains, and video games, and they even had a candy store.
After we were done we went to Times Square to go to M and M World. They had all the flavors, original to assorted flavors.
After we were done there we were looking for Dad, but we found Dad at a pizza shop that sold subs, salads, and pizza, and we ate there. After we ate we went home.

1st debate of 2012
Last night I witnessed the first Presidential debate. I got to stay up all night just to watch it, my mom wanted me to take notes, so I did. The nominees were Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. The debates went from 9:05 to 10:35, so about an hour and a half long. I really enjoyed the debates because it let me see history in action. I don't really understand everything they were talking about, but this is just about how I saw it.
The debates were about repealing Obamacare, cutting taxes, other crises in America. One of the first issues that they talked about was the Social Security System. Obama said that social security doesn't need to be helped and that it is fine as it is. Mitt Romney said that wasn't correct, it does need help. Mitt Romney suggested his plan to use vouchers. Romney also said that he wants the elderly to make their own choices on Medicare. And he also said that some regulations are needed because a free country does need some rules.
Obama said that the bankers made the economy crash until he stepped foot on that ground. He was saying that the choices he made helped the country to not fall apart. Romney did not agree with that. Romney says we can't be giving banks blank checks. And other businesses like car makers.
Romney wants to repeal Obamacare because it is more expensive and it has torn down jobs. Obama was defending it saying it was a good law and it was creating more jobs than it took away. Romney said that a lot of Americans don't like Obamacare. He said that in my state, everyone got together and worked on these types of things together. And that is what we need to do in America. Obama asked "how can we reduce care?" Romney said that we can keep the good parts, get rid of the rest, but what we really need is to get the cost down and make this more affordable for all Americans. Obama says insurers need to take everyone. Romney said there needs to be a better plan.
Obama said that the middle class families are in trouble. Romney agreed with that. And Romney said he has a plan to help all Americans, not just the rich, not just the poor, but all Americans. Romney said he loves grade schools. They have great teachers. He supports pursuing good education. Romney wants disabled kids parents to be able to choose what school they want them to go to. He supports pursuing happiness and the pursuing of dreams. I liked that he quoted the Declaration of Independence. And I think that is cool.
Obama says that college students are looking for jobs that are looking for them. Romney said that he knows how jobs are created and that he will work on creating many new jobs as President. Romney said that when he was governor, he cut down taxes. He also said that he's here because all of America is hurting, and the middle class. But Obama said that America is good how it is. Romney said that we've been going on the wrong side of the road, and if he's elected he'll try to change the direction of our country and that there'll be no more Obamacare.

Our family Vacation
McCoy Family Vacation
By
Xavier McCoy
This spring, we went on a vacation to
Washington D.C. The first place we went
was the Holocaust Museum. While we were
there we went to Daniel’s Story. He told
us what happened before they were put into the concentration camp. While they were at the camp, he told us when
he started work as a child. He would dig
ditches, cut trees, and still not get paid.
After we were done at the exhibits we went
to the gift shop where we got to see a survivor from a concentration camp. His name was Jack Ratz, and he even signed
one of Mom’s books and we got a picture with him. After we were done at the Holocaust Museum we tried to find the Capitol
Building. We were so lost and everyone
was hungry! So we stopped at the Ronald
Reagan Building. They had a nice food
court that we ate at. After we ate, we
rode the Metro to the Capitol building.
We went through security, into the visitor’s center and watched a
film. After that, we toured the Capitol.
We even saw where George Washington was supposed to be buried.
The third place we went was the
Archives. We had to go through a line of
security. Before we saw the Documents we
read the Magna Carta. The Magna Carta
was written in old English that I couldn’t understand. We read the Magna Carta; then we saw the Declaration
of Independence, Bill of Rights, and the Constitution. We even saw copies of them. We read the documents and explored the rest
of the Archives. We saw World War II commercials
and watched a show. After a few minutes
we went to the gift shop, and I bought a copy of the Declaration of
Independence for $15.00.
On the 2nd day of our trip, we
went to three Smithsonian Museums.
Natural History is the one that talks about evolution, and most of the
fossils were false. On the 2nd
floor we saw emeralds, rubies, diamonds, and even saw the Hope Diamond. The next place was American History. It told us how life was back during early
American History. They even showed the
real flag from Battle of Fort McHenry.
We even saw what houses looked like handmade wood furniture! The next place we went was the Air and
Space Museum. We first went to the Kid Lab.
We did a lot of things there. I even did an experiment. While we were
there, we got to see the Kittyhawk. The
Kittyhawk was the Wright brother’s first plane that ever flew.
When we were done we went to the Lincoln Memorial.
While we there we read the Lincolns Gettysburg Address. I even got a picture
with his statue. We got a few more pictures.
After we toured D.C., we went to Greenville
SC for a homeschool convention. We also had some friends there. Their names are
MR. and MRS. Ooten, Maddie, Taylor, and Claire. While we were there we played
the Wii. After a few hours we went to the convention. We ate at Krispy Kremes.
My favorite thing was Frankie’s fun Park because I played Laser Tag and rode go
karts.
It took us two days to get home. We stopped
at PA. It
felt so good to be
home because there’s no place like home.
